Hammer of the Year
|
Mods firstly can we please have a Who Poll put up for it, lets get back to having some regularity in this place...
We have such a number of players that are in contention, there are a coupke of stand out players but is there one who can honeslty say he is walking away with it this year?
Noble Payet Kouyate Antonio Adrian Ogbonna Collins Cresswell
Everyone one of them can make a good claim to it.
For me though I think it has to go to Noble.

It's great to have a year where the HOTY isn't a complete stand out. I can't remember another time when there were 4-5 contenders. Perhaps 85-86 was the last time.

Payet.
My logic is this. Oppo's are SCARED of him. He sometimes doesn't shine, but he'll drag at least 2 defenders just in case he shows the wizardry everyone now knows he has. So, even if having a poor-ish game, he disrupts the other team.
And when Payet has a great game, he's the most skilful player in the league. Tricks, corners, crosses, assists, free kicks, calm finishing... the bloke oozes talent.
Would like to see Ginge get recognition for this season, as he's been mostly brilliant. And just for his work over the years. Was sold, came back, never moans, played better. Top bloke.
Nobes has his testimonial. Loyal, fighter, now leader, Mr West Ham. Hammer Of the last decade.
Sorry. Long post. Day off. May have had a drink.

Re: Hammer of the Year

as a former centre back I'm always biased towards the defenders.
Collins wins it Payet Noble Antonio
Hard to pick out anyone as this is the most complete team unit since 85/86

It's got to be payet... I know what everyone else is saying but teams now fear us because of him!!!
Look at Spurs last night swarmed round him every time he got the ball which then gives acres to every one else..
He is top scorer and top assists

I think I'd give it to the whole team this year.

If the season continues in terms of success then with so many candidates this year (could be 5-6 players easy) and if he lifts the FA cup I'd give it to Fordstar. I mean Noble

Providing we have no long term injuries, it has to be Payet. If he doesn't get it, I will eat the grass whole, Boleyn ground pitch. Runner up? At the moment, it has to be Noble, who has done a good captain's job.
